[texts]The Theory of Stochastic Pseudo-differential Operators and Its Applications, I - Xu Liu
The purpose of this paper is to establish the theory of stochastic pseudo-differential operators and give its applications in stochastic partial differential equations. First, we introduce some concepts on stochastic pseudo-differential operators and prove their fundamental properties. Also, we present the boundedness theory, invertibility of stochastic elliptic operators and the Garding inequality...

[texts]Calderon-Type Uniqueness Theorem for Stochastic Partial Differential Equations - Xu Liu
In this Note, we present a Calder\'on-type uniqueness theorem on the Cauchy problem of stochastic partial differential equations. To this aim, we introduce the concept of stochastic pseudo-differential operators, and establish their boundedness and other fundamental properties. The proof of our uniqueness theorem is based on a new Carleman-type estimate.

[texts]Discrete Quasi-Einstein Metrics and Combinatorial Curvature Flows in 3-Dimension - Huabin Ge
We define Discrete Quasi-Einstein metrics (DQE-metrics) as the critical points of discrete total curvature functional on triangulated 3-manifolds. We study DQE-metrics by introducing some combinatorial curvature flows. We prove that these flows produce solutions which converge to discrete quasi-Einstein metrics when the initial energy is small enough. The proof relies on a careful analysis of discrete dual-Laplacians which we interpret as the Jacobian matrix of the curvature map...

[texts]Remarks on Murre's conjecture on Chow groups - Kejian Xu
For certain product varieties, Murre's conjecture on Chow groups is investigated. In particular, it is proved that Murre's conjecture (B) is true for two kinds of four-folds. Precisely, if $C$ is a curve and $X$ is an elliptic modular threefold over $k$ (an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0) or an abelian variety of dimension 3, then Murre's conjecture (B) is true for the fourfold $X\times C.$

[texts]Weak Maximum Principle for Strongly Coupled Elliptic Differential Systems - Xu Liu
A classical counterexample due to E. De Giorgi, shows that the weak maximum principle does not remain true for general linear elliptic differential systems. After that, there are some efforts to establish the weak maximum principle for special elliptic differential systems, but the existing works are addressing only the cases of weakly coupled systems, or almost-diagonal systems, or even some systems coupling in various lower order terms...

[texts]Compressed Sensing Matrices from Fourier Matrices - Guangwu Xu
The class of Fourier matrices is of special importance in compressed sensing (CS). This paper concerns deterministic construction of compressed sensing matrices from Fourier matrices. By using Katz' character sum estimation, we are able to design a deterministic procedure to select rows from a Fourier matrix to form a good compressed sensing matrix for sparse recovery. The sparsity bound in our construction is similar to that of binary CS matrices constructed by DeVore which greatly improves pre...

[texts]Discrete schemes for Gaussian curvature and their convergence - Zhiqiang Xu
In this paper, several discrete schemes for Gaussian curvature are surveyed. The convergence property of a modified discrete scheme for the Gaussian curvature is considered. Furthermore, a new discrete scheme for Gaussian curvature is resented. We prove that the new scheme converges at the regular vertex with valence not less than 5. By constructing a counterexample, we also show that it is impossible for building a discrete scheme for Gaussian curvature which converges over the regular vertex w...

[texts]2-Dimensional Combinatorial Calabi Flow in Hyperbolic Background Geometry - Huabin Ge
For triangulated surfaces locally embedded in the standard hyperbolic space, we introduce combinatorial Calabi flow as the negative gradient flow of combinatorial Calabi energy. We prove that the flow produces solutions which converge to ZCCP-metric (zero curvature circle packing metric) if the initial energy is small enough. Assuming the curvature has a uniform upper bound less than $2\pi$, we prove that combinatorial Calabi flow exists for all time...

This article is from PLoS ONE, volume 9.AbstractLactic acid is an important chemical with various industrial applications, and it can be efficiently produced by fermentation, in which Bacillus coagulans strains present excellent performance. Betaine can promote lactic acid fermentation as an effective osmoprotectant. Here, positive effect of betaine on fermentation by B. coagulans is revealed. Betaine could enhance lactic acid production by protecting l-LDH activity and cell growth from osmotic ...

[texts]Algebraic Coset Conformal field theories - Feng Xu
All unitary Rational Conformal Field Theories (RCFT) are conjectured to be related to unitary coset Conformal Field Theories, i.e., gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) models with compact gauge groups. In this paper we use subfactor theory and ideas of algebraic quantum field theory to approach coset Conformal Field Theories. Two conjectures are formulated and their consequences are discussed. Some results are presented which prove the conjectures in special cases...
[texts]Applications of a simple but useful technique to stochastic convolution of $α$-stable processes - Lihu Xu

[texts]Quantum groupoids - Ping Xu
We introduce a general notion of quantum universal enveloping algebroids (QUE algebroids), or quantum groupoids, as a unification of quantum groups and star-products. Some basic properties are studied including the twist construction and the classical limits. In particular, we show that a quantum groupoid naturally gives rise to a Lie bialgebroid as a classical limit. Conversely, we formulate a conjecture on the existence of a quantization for any Lie bialgebroid, and prove this conjecture for t...

The proof is based on the theories of Harder-Narasimhan filtration of finite flat group schemes and admissible filtered isocrystals...

In this paper we present a conjecture on intermediate subfactors which is a generalization of Wall's conjecture from the theory of finite groups. Motivated by this conjecture, we determine all intermediate subfactors of Goodman-Harpe-Jones subfactors, and as a result we verify that Goodman-Harpe-Jones subfactors verify our conjecture. Our result also gives a negative answer to a question motivated by a conjecture of Aschbacher-Guralnick.

Browing Bryant's result we get plenty of such curves. Rational curves are shown to be either vertical or horizontal or null-torsion. Both horizontal and null-torsion curves can be understood by mentioned Bryant's results while vertica...

More precisely, we study SU(3)-structures which admit as "nice" a local special Lagrangian geometry as the flat $\mathbf{C}^3$ or a Calabi-Yau structure does. The underlying almost complex structure may not be integrable. Such SU(3)-structures are called {\it admissible}. Among these, we are particularly interested in a subclass of SU(3)-structures called {\it nearly Calabi-Yau}...

[texts]Generalized translation operator and approximation in several variables - Yuan Xu
Generalized translation operators for orthogonal expansions with respect to families of weight functions on the unit ball and on the standard simplex are studied. They are used to define convolution structures and modulus of smoothness for these regions, which are in turn used to characterize the best approximation by polynomials in the weighted $L^p$ spaces. In one variable, this becomes the generalized translation operator for the Gegenbauer polynomial expansions.
